Greetings from the IMC Group 2021
ALPIN Kick-Off and Workshop 2021
After a long time of social distancing we could take our 2021 group photo in person again.
And of course we also took a handstand picture!
Since the CoVid-19 restrictions do not allow us to take a group photo at the moment, we took some polaroids of our group members during their lab work.
Visiting International Professor (VIP) 2020: We were honored to have Prof. Erwin Kessels from the University Eindhoven (TU/e), Netherlands at the Ruhr University. He is one of the leading experts in the fields of plasma chemistry and materials science.

Fooling around
On friday, the 14th of december the official graduation ceremony for the master studies in chemistry took place. We congratulate our three master students Jan-Lucas Wree, Nils Boysen and David Zanders (from left to right) to their academic degree “Master of Science – Chemistry”. All three will continue their work as PhD student in 2019. Keep up the good work!

PhD graduation
We want to congratulate our five PhD candidates from 2017 Stefan Cwik, Richard O’Donoghue, Max Gebhard, Sarah Karle and Jiyeon Kim (not present in the picture) for successfully submitting their dissertations. All of you have been working hard to reach this point, and the results speak for themselves! Thank you for your efforts and the team spirit! We wish you all the best for your future.
Master graduation
We congratulate our three master students Dennis Zywitzki, Sebastian Beer and Philipp John for successfully graduating in chemistry in 2017. Dennis and Sebastian will start their PhD within the IMC group while Philipp will begin his PhD studies at CRHEA (Centre de Recherche sur l’Hétéro-Epitaxie et ses Applications) in Nice, France. We wish him the best of luck and a successful outcome.

AVS ALD2017 conference in Denver, Colorado (USA)
Maximilian Gebhard and Lukas Mai participated AVS ALD2017 conference in Denver representing the IMC group with two talks. In addition, Lukas Mai was among the “Best ALD 2017 Student Paper Award Finalists” and he won a well recognized prize, granted by Lam Research. Congratulations!
Visiting International Professor (VIP) at RUB
Maarit Karppinen from Aalto University (Helsinki, Finland) came to Bochum as a VIP (Visiting International Professor) 2017. She gave an interesting talk about her research on ALD/MLD.
Joint EuroCVD 21 & Baltic ALD 15 Conference in Linköping, Sweden
From 11 – 14 June 2017, our whole group spent a wonderful time at the Joint EuroCVD 21 & Baltic ALD 15 Conference. Congrats to our PhD student Richard O’Donoghue who was awarded the “Best Poster” award!
