David is back in Bochum with the IMC Group again!
Group photo of the BarryLab members (fall 2019).
After a fruitful and synthesis-loaded research stay in the BarryLab at Carleton University (Ottawa, CA), David has returned safe and sound. Based on the first stint of his binational Cotutelle Program between RUB and Carleton, David has spent half a year abroad to study unusual cobalt complexes as potential precursors for ALD/CVD and beyond.
He made it in time just before the Corona pandemic started. Even more, he has brought along a special molecular friend. It’s a Co(IV) complex with S = 1/2 spin ground state configuration and surprisingly high (thermal) stability. You don’t find one of these every day and we are happy to announce that a joint study has just been accepted for publication in Angewandte Chemie.
Stay tuned for more details as the ASAP article will soon be available! If you already want to peak there is a preprint on ChemRxiv: Click here
Happy to have you back, David! Do you still know how our ALD tools work though?
PS: David learned to appreciate doughnuts together with the Barry’s (see photo).
